Celebrate Celebrities\' Privacy
Tags -

I remember once, when I was still studying at the National University of Singapore, a fellow student approached me with a survey with a question as to whether the private lives of famous people are to be respected. At that time, I declined to take the survey as I was clueless as to what the answer should be.
However, as I studied sociology on an increasing basis, I came to realize that people under the scrutiny of cameras tend to behave differently. That's the reason why bosses have hidden cameras in every office, which by now is an open secret that any professional with at least two years working experience know. It's just like when you hang out with acquaintances on a gathering and your inner alter-ego flashes out.
Well, let me tell you. How do you like having cameras pointing at you every second? Similarly, I am of the opinion that most celebrities just want to entertain you. In case, you didn't know, many musicians and actors who came to be famous chose this career path because of their passion for the arts. When they realized fame or that extra booze will ruin them, some simply drop out of the entertainment circle altogether.
After all, it's just earning a living, just like everyone else or maybe earning even less. Public and private lives should be separate, unless what celebrities do in their private lives has a drastic adverse effect on any members of the public.
So, now I can answer my fellow student's survey. Yes, the private lives of celebrities should be respected. A resounding yes.

Now what?
